Separated from India by only 30 kilometers, the northern part of Sri Lanka is striking in contrast from the rest of the country.  Cultural, historical, and language differences distinguish this areas heavy Tamil influence. Rich heritage, seen in Christian churches, Hindu temples, and Dutch forts, are interwoven with such natural wonders as hot springs, island chains, and fertile peninsulas.
